Game UX Designer

BACKGROUND The Company is an iGaming start-up focused on creating immersive sports betting experiences through innovative new betting games. The driving force behind the company is a group of iGaming industry veterans whose collective experiences range from the development of ground-breaking iGaming products to the establishment of global distribution networks. With a Mission – To transform the sports betting market by creating a game changing experience for players and Vision – To be the leading provider of sports betting games in the world. We are taking ingame/live betting to the next level and frontier. GAME UX DESIGNER Games UX Designers are responsible for how a game looks and what it is like to play. They collaborate with a small team figuring out the game play and what is going to happen. … Once a game is being made, they work on new iterations. They are the ones that decide if changes need to be made. As a Game Designer, you will be working with our product, art, and engineering teams to create genuinely fun, exciting and compelling experiences for the many, many, many players.  At ParlayBay we developed the first range of games, BOSS, STREAK and RUSH, all based on slightly different set of game rules, mechanics and UX, also supported by in-game meta games for increased experience. These games will be enhanced with additional UX and on top of that new game formats are in the pipeline. We only just got started, and there is plenty of room for innovation!  WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Be a champion of player sentiment, with an eye towards increasing the “wow” factor while maintaining healthy game KPIs.
  • Consider, plan, and detail every element of a new game type and new feature including the rules and the UX flow.
  • Guide the implementation of game features and systems with eyes on engagement, retention, and monetization, and educate the rest of the game teams on best practices so that everyone can think like a game designer.
  • Conceptualize, implement, and balance game content through proprietary tools to support in-game progression flow.
  • Create wireframe screens, mock-ups and user flows for new product features and content.
  • Write clear and concise documentation, including proof-of-concept, presentations, high-level design summaries, and detailed design schematics.
  • Strong analytical skills of game metrics to detect improvement points and come to actionable conclusions that can be translated into design solutions.
  • Pitch innovative game types, features and ux events that are designed to improve player experience, acquisition, engagement and/or monetization, but overall must be fun.
  • Collaborate with the engineering and art & animator team to effectively implement new features, systems, and game flows.
  • Manage game systems, economics & mechanics.
  • Provide clear feature documentation, diagrams, wireframes and/or prototypes.
  • Analyze live data and player feedback to continually optimize existing game experience.
  • Understand player needs and ensure that the elements developed by the team will contribute to player satisfaction and enjoyment.
  • Drive the evolution of the projects progress on game design deliverables.
  • Able to drive and follow-up on prototyping with other members of the game development team
  • Communicate the project objectives, strategies, and general information to all team members to give visibility to the advancement of the development of the game and the other crafts.
  • Actively participate and act as a regular liaison in the decision-making process with management and oversee the necessary adjustments to ensure that the game design team meets expectations.
  • Supervise and be responsible for providing clear and structured project documents to ensure that gameplay intentions are understood and that team members are working on the right elements (ingredients, game system, gaming modes, behavior specifications, etc.).
  • Attend playtests and be solution-oriented to the problem encountered.
  • Carry out all other related tasks.
  • You are a collaborator, skilled in brainstorming techniques, which is also proactive and able to own design features from inception to execution
  • You are an avid gamer who enjoys playing a wide variety of mobile games
  • You have a proven ability to design and adjust everything from short moment-to-moment experiences to metagame structures
  • You are comfortable working on real-money and free-to-play games in genres such as sports betting, social casino, casual, and midcore
  • A good understanding of math will allow you to realize your designs and fine-tune them for maximum effectiveness
  • You can work patiently and productively with a wide variety of other teams, including other designers, product managers, product owners, producers, engineers, artists, animators, and QA
  • Able to provide visual designs with mock-ups in an art program of your choice
  • You can take feedback and adjust accordingly, and whilst you are able to advocate your point of view, you also can find the best compromise
  • You are comfortable making sense of game performance KPIs and metrics and how they relate to game design
  • Excellent ability to organize and structure your own work and that of the project
  • Able to demonstrate understanding of mechanics, features, game flows, aesthetics and technology, their interaction as part of game design, as well as how the player experiences these
  • Ability to analyze gameplay mechanics and feature designs
  • Able to design game systems, individual gameplay features & player progressions

  • Professional game development experience with at documented success in shipped titles.
  • Experience with rapid prototyping
  • Understanding of game balance, including statistics, meta games, economics, and user motivations.
  • Understanding of interaction design concepts and principles.
  • Able to excel in a rapid iteration environment.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
  • A passion for creating exciting experiences for players including the ideation of new game types, features, meta games, etc.
  • Minimum of 3 years as a game designer – preferably on a real-money or monetizing social gaming games
